Session Description

Activity-based training or therapy remains one of the most promising and employed therapeutic approaches for spinal cord injury. However, the effectiveness of even aggressive training approaches is very limited and may laboratories are now exploring the use of activity-based rehabilitation in combination with other adjunct or primary approaches. This session will explore several of those combinations in animal models being pursued in three of the top laboratories world-wide.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  1. Understand the challenges and advantages of activity-based rehabilitation.
  2. Know several of the combinatorial approaches that are being applied, with rehabilitation, in an effort to improve overall functional recovery.
  3. Encompass a greater understanding of how combinatorial therapies that include rehabilitation might be translated to the clinical situation.
