Under Construction: The Function of the Teenage Brain After TBI Pediatric

DESCRIPTION

A peak in TBI incidence occurs during adolescence when the brain is in a critical stage of development. Disruption of these processes impact future function of these teenagers and this session will focus on how TBI and concussions impacts addictive behaviors, hormonal and functional recovery.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

1. Understand the unique vulnerabilities of the teenage brain to altered function after TBI
2. Understand how TBI specifically affects the adolescent brain
3. Understand how concussions can influencebench to bedside.
